Pocket 75,000 Membership Rewards Bonus Points
Right now, you could earn 75,000 Membership Rewards Points with a new American Express Gold Card.
The American Express Membership Rewards program is highly valued by savvy consumers and business owners alike. With the ability to transfer points to a range of travel and retail partners, Amex Membership Rewards is about as flexible as a loyalty program gets.
75,000 Membership Rewards ‘Ascent’ Points transfer to 37,500 points or miles with leading airline programs including Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, and Velocity Frequent Flyer. Alternatively, you could choose to redeem your points for gift cards or statement credits to your account.
Whatever your plans, Membership Rewards points don't expire, so you can save your nest egg and use it at a later date.
The 75,000 bonus points will be credited 8 to 10 weeks after the minimum spend is reached.
Earn points each time you spend for business
As a business owner, you’re uniquely placed to earn piles of points when paying expenses. And, with the American Express Gold Business Card, you’ll have the ability to earn points whenever you spend with your card.
There’s a flat earn rate of 1.5 points per $1 for all spend, except with Government Bodies where you’ll collect 1 point per $1 spent. That’s the equivalent of 0.75 frequent flyer points or miles per dollar across most merchants.
Better still, there’s no cap on how many points you can earn on your card each month or year. And, with American Express accepted at merchants across Australia, there are plenty of places where you can make purchases.
Harness the power of no pre-set spending limit
The American Express Gold Business Card is a charge card. Unlike a credit card, there isn’t a pre-set spending limit. Choosing a card with no pre-set spending limit can help businesses effectively manage monthly cash flow.
The concept works like this: With no pre-set spending limit, your spending power can grow alongside your business. Depending on your circumstances, a charge card could unlock access to much higher monthly purchasing power than a standard credit card with a fixed limit.
Bear in mind that no pre-set spending limit does not mean unlimited spending. A charge card must be paid in full each month and as your spending and repayment patterns evolve, so do your purchase approvals.
Access up to 51 cash flow days
The American Express Gold Business Card provides up to 51 days to pay for purchases. For many small business owners, that’s valuable time to pay suppliers while you wait to get paid.
Take advantage of Flexible Payment Option
Flexible Payment Option is a new feature, recently launched by American Express.
It works like this: Essentially, if you prefer not to pay your monthly closing balance in full, you have the option to carry a portion of it forward, up to your Flexible Payment Option Limit each month. With an instant line of credit, you can free up your cash flow. Note that interest charges of 23.99% apply.
Unlock insurances for your business
At the present time, business travel is off the cards for many of us. However, with your American Express Gold Business Card, you’ll gain access to a range of insurances designed to provide peace of mind when you’re ready to start travelling again for business. These include:
Cover for business travel: Get covered for emergency medical expenses if you have an accident while travelling for business, provided your trip is booked using your American Express Gold Business Card.
Business trip completion cover: If you’re unable to complete a business trip booked on your Card due to serious injury or sickness, you will receive cover for another person to take your place. This coverage includes money towards flights, accommodation, and meal expenses.
Travel cancellation and travel inconvenience insurance: When you use your Card to pay for your travel, you’ll receive reimbursement of accommodation, essential clothing, and refreshments due to a delayed or cancelled flight, missed connections, and delayed or lost luggage.
Complimentary baggage insurance: Your luggage and possessions will be covered when you use your American Express Gold Business Card to pay for your travel. This includes cover for lost, stolen, or damaged baggage, money, and documents.
Complimentary Travel Insurance cover is extended to additional cardholders, provided the travel is booked on the additional cardholder’s card.
Before deciding to take up any of these insurance products, and to find out more information about coverage requirements, you should refer to the card PDS and terms & conditions here.
Save time and money with other benefits for business

Hi
My supplementary card holder wants to apply for this card? Will she be entitled to this offer?
Regards
Adrian
Hi Adrian, yes, provided she meets the other eligibility criteria, she can apply for the offer as a new customer
Hi, I have a David Jones amex card. Am I still eligible for this promotion?
Hi Joseph, as far as we are aware, holding a David Jones Amex won’t preclude you from this offer.
I have a Qantas Amex for personal use , does this exclude me, ?
Hi, that depends on the card. If it’s issued by Westpac, then it’s considered a bank-issued Amex and won’t preclude you. However, if the card is directly issued by Amex Australia (Ultimate, Premium or Discovery) then you are not eligible unfortunately.
Hi I’m working now. I want to make own business. Can I apply for this card?
Hi Abdul, to apply for this card, you’ll need to have a valid ABN and be registered for GST. More information is available in the ‘eligibility’ section of the post above.
I applied last week and have just received my card. When will I receive the points and the cashback?
Hi Lisa, provided you are eligible for the offer, Amex states that you will receive the bonus points and $80 Credit within 8-10 weeks of meeting the minimum spend.
The minimum spend seems low for a business card. Do I need to outlay more than $1,000 to qualify for the 120,000 bonus points and $80 credit?
Hi Shanika, confirming the spend criteria is just $1k in eligible spend in the first 2 months of card membership.
Decent deal with the points and credit, that’s a good bonus for the low annual fee.
Shame I already have an Amex 🙁
Hi, what’s the difference between this card and the Amex Platinum Business Card?
Hi Neil, both cards are ‘charge’ cards that can help businesses manage cashflow (more about how this works in the post above). One of the key differences is the annual fee – the American Express Platinum Business Card costs $1,750 to hold each year, whilst the Amex Gold Business Card costs just $169 plus optional Membership Rewards enrolment fee of $80. As you’d expect, the Platinum Business offers a range of benefits, this includes many lifestyle and travel benefits, plus a slightly higher points earn rate. More information about the benefits on offer with the Amex Platinum Business Card can be found here: lifestyle benefits
I’ve got an Amex through Westpac. Am I still eligible for this offer?
Hi Mark, the Westpac Amex is a bank-issued Amex. Holding this card won’t preclude you from our exclusive offer on the Amex Gold Business Card.
Thanks, applied and was instantly approved! Any idea how long it will take to for the card to be posted?
Hello Peter
You should receive your card within 5 to 10 business days. This can vary depending on where you live.
Thanks
Michael
